They added too much weight to this new Miata. The thing weighs over 2,500lb. They're getting heavier and heavier every year. My '99 weighed in at 2,370lb fully loaded with an aftermarket dual exhaust and style bar. I could have easily gotten it under 2,300lb. The M1's were around 2,150-2,250. With a driver, the MS Miata will be 2,800lb+ with about 140whp. I had a Jackson Racing supercharger kit on my Miata running 5psi with a header and exhaust which was good for about 155whp (stock = 110whp). I was running 0-60 in the low 6's and 1/4 in the 14.8-15.2 range. I don't expect the MS Miata to be very "fast". Low to mid 15's in the 1/4 mile maybe.
I still like the Miata, but Mazda has gone in the wrong direction with this one. The car should have a massaged 2 liter, aluminum blocked engine putting out 180-200hp normally aspirated, weighing in at 2,300lb tops. Lower the ride height and keep the 15" wheels. 16" max. Those 17's make that car look like an AMC Rambler.

The iterior is sporty though, I wonder how it takes to mods? If a fully loaded LX miata is $27k, is this going to be $30k??
(and no, I'm not a hater, I used to own a miata.)

You're probably not going to get ~20hp from adding a larger FMIC. For one, this miata is probably only running a few psi...maybe 5-6? Adding a larger front mount COULD result in a larger pressure drop, resulting is loss of hp. However, a slightly larger, better designed intercooler could net a few ponies, but not 20.
This is essentially the same with the 3" exhaust. A few ponies, but nothing MASSIVE with running only ~6psi.
Tuning, on the other hand, could net more power. It just depends on how it was tuned from the factory. But we won't know that until it's strapped to some type of metering device, dyno or a wideband perhaps.
Back to the subject, I think it looks pretty good. I actually love the wheels. And I think it'll be a real contender in Auto-X. from me.

Not too bad, but it needs more of an aggressive front end. Isn't it time for a redesign? I wouldn't mind seeing it more like the RX-8 look mixed-in for the Miata.
