IMO that's a good price.
Can't wait for the M3 v IS500 (we'll have to wait and see how that pans out).
Great time to be in the market for such cars, also consider the GT-R and RS4 '400+hp' starting in the $60s (maybe).

That's about where I expected the pricing to fall and BMW always kills you on the options. I'm not a fan of the SMGIII in my M5 thus the reason it's up for sale already. I will reserve judgement for the next gen M3 until I see one in person but in all honesty I'm a little dissappointed that BMW is going away from the inline 6.

The Carbon Fiber roof seems like it would add a lot? But again, if this is the real pricing, should be really nice. I probably couldn't buy a new one unless I sold both my cars.. so I'll just try picking up an older E46 once these come out.

The Cayman S now looks overpriced. Oh yeah, we already knew that.
I keep telling myself that 295hp (CS) or 325hp (Carrera) should not be compared to 425hp (M3) for same/less money. b/c the weight difference of the M3 is more a GT.
I'd love to see a M3 v Cayman S v Carrera (non-s) just to see what's what.

but at some point, the weight has to be irrelevant if a cheaper car outperforms (in the majority of the perf. categories) a more expensive car....right?
hypothetical example:
if an E46 M3 (cheaper, heavier) outperfomed a C6 Z06 (lighter, more costly), why would the M3 be considered a GT and the Z06 a sports car?

I prefer the V8.
M3 race cars were dominating with the V8 but were outlawed.
The V8 is shorter can be located closer to the center of the car, easie to have larger displacement/power.

missing something, the M3 does NOT outperform the base C6 let alone the Z06.
