Wouldn't an electric turbo be a supercharger?

Which would make this twin-charged... When will the bad-assed-ness end?!!!

What the hell are people thinking? The term "electric turbo" doesn't even make any sense. But hey, it's BMW fans, so they know what they are talking about

Nah, they probably added an exhaust-driven generator to power the electrical turbo.

I am not saying that an electric super/turbo is bad. It worked well enough on the mini's. (I think those were electric before they went turbo)

Something tells me this will be tied to the window switch/fuse. In short, expect it to work 68% of the time.

BTW, it looks like in the pics that they are finally going to a Brembo style brake caliper this time.

And how bad ass would it have been had they gone with three regular turbos, each driven by two cylinders. Imagine how BA the exhaust manifold would have looked. Though I doubt that it would have been all that efficient. How many Twin turbo I4 engines do you see?
