Innovation Is Alive and Well
The innovation that aftermarket companies around the world display is legendary, and the in-house innovative power displayed by some TAS exhibitors showed that the bar has been raised higher this year, particularly when it comes to products that have become highly computerized. Aftermarket companies in Japan had heard dire predictions from inside Nissan that the GT-R would be impossible to modify, so they were prepared for the worst.
A Japanese journalist reportedly had the following experience when test driving a pre-release model of the GT-R. As he approached the main entry gate of Suzuka International Circuit, the car

I dont get it, why would the warranty be void if you enter a circuit? Dont they build the cars to last? Isnt this a "performance vehicle" meant to "perform"? It would make more sense if you modified it but shouldnt the car be able to hand some kind of abuse and still be under warranty? Why spend so much money if you cant even enjoy it? Big thumgs down on this one....

well, a prior post mentioned that the GTR's GPS doesn't recognoize American circuits, so that might be a goofd thing as long as you can turn the nannies off. Not that I feel any pity for the folks that buy one. It's a fast car that can't just be fast, it has to be full of gimmicks and baubles to impress buyers. If it was simply an EFI turbo 6 that left two black streaks at every stoplight, it would be a winner. But for some reason, it seems that people want more than performance, from Japanese makers they want senseless electronics that don't add anything. Serves them right to get a backseat driver from Tokyo every time they turn the key. Ask and you shall receive, I think the saying goes
