Default New GM

Not S2000, but not bad.

The Solstice is powered by a rear-wheel-drive 2.2-liter DOHC supercharged EcoTec four-cylinder engine generating up to 240 horsepower. The supercharger is an off-the-shelf unit supplied right out of the GM Service Parts performance catalog. The engine is mated to a Borg-Warner performance six-speed manual transmission, the same one used in the Corvette.

Pictures don't do this car justice. It's actually quite ugly. I've seen it twice (Detroit and Chicago auto shows) and both times was simply amazed at how wrong it looked when you were close to it and could really look at it. Maybe it's just me, but I find it to be less than appealing.

Andy - no, it's a concept, one that will never see production in this form.

I have never seen this car in person, but it is what inspired me to order an S2000. In January, I saw pictures of it in the auto section of our local newspaper. I spent the next several weeks trying to find out as much as I could about this car. I even wrote e-mails to Bob Lutz at GM asking him to please bring the car to production. This car awakened a craving in me for a roadster that I never knew existed, but you can only only pine after a concept car for so long without hope of gratification in sight. I started looking at alternatives that were in production, and it didn't take me long to realize that the S2000 was exactly what I was craving. The build date on my Suzuka blue was April 9th. Now I'm just waiting not so patiently for it to find it's way to a boat.

Supercharged 4-cyl engine - typical "state-of-the-art" advanced GM engineering.

I really think this car is hot... I especially like the coupe version. They have beautiful lines. I have seen it in person and it does look quite impressive.
