The car in "Star" was definately an M5, the car in the one with the buddist kid was a 540i. They had ones with 740, X5 3.0, one with Z3 & 330. Who ever is driving that car is off the hook !

I reviewed the film at home and paused several of the shots. It has M5 badging. Obviously, they may have used "other" 5 series but the emphasis is on an M5.
Besides the badging, the quad exhaust, aero flares on the front and beefy rims tell all!

"Star" featured a 530 dressed up as an M5. As was mentioned before, BMW was unwilling to give Guy Ritchie perfectly good M5s that would be destroyed in the "jump" scene. I know in the movie it looks like an M5, but the bmwfilms.com page used to have some info on each car in the movie and the information posted on the site clearly said the cars used were 530s with m5 appearance.

Ah ha! I knew I didn't make that thought up. Thanks, Rodan.

I'd like to know how you got any of that information. I searched the site and watched the "Making of the Film" along with the director's commentary on "Star." I have yet to see where they make any reference to mocking up a 5 series to look like an M5.
