$170,000 for an M3. Bwahahahahahahahahaha. Riiiiiiiiiiiight. Keep dreaming BMW
You might want to read through a thread before making yourself look like an idiot again. It will not cost $170k just like a normal M3 doesn't cost $105k (70k Euros converted directly to dollars).

I can see Footballers all over the world owning this thing.

Seriously, I've never understood tin tops such as this one. It's extremely compromised as a road car. Compromised to the point where I suspect an S2000 would seem civilized in comparison yet I can't see this being a better canyon carver than say a Lotus Elise of some sort. It may be a better track car than a normal M3 but really it makes for a crappy race car when compared to just about any purpose built race car.

In the end it strikes me as BMW marketing more than anything. BMW will post numbers showing how great the 3 series is and buyers of 325s will somehow assume that their car inherited that "greatness".

Then again I guess I'm strange in that I think that if you are going to get a track only car it needs to be a REAL track only car like a Van Diemen or Swift etc.

I'm guessing this thing is an option for people who would otherwise be looking at the GT3. Perhaps for participation in a spec race series, regional sports car clubs, etc. I have no idea what options exist for club racing in Germany, but even here in the US we have a ton of choices just for German makes.

To some people a Formula Ford is the beter solution to a dedicated track car, but maybe you're tired of the VanDiemen and Super7, and want something based on a road car. I don't think anyone at BMW thinks this will make an economical alternative to anything with a stereo

Thought this was kind of funny, though I understand where they're coming from:
"Through its race-oriented modifications enhancing both performance and safety, the BMW M3 GTS is ready to go in Clubsport events on the track and comes with the option for homologation on the road. So that the driver is able to make his way to the race track in the very same car he will use for racing." I plan on using mine for pizza delivery, a guy could wreck his car at the track lol. But seriously, maybe it's a serious hassle for the average rich enthusiast to navigate European street with a car trailer, when compared to the US.

I'm glad to see that Honda isn't the only company who paints their "racer" cars an ugly color. I sure hope they meant fire extinguisher. Hydrants are REALLY heavy.

I have a hydrant in my garage. Also a regulation fire hose.

There's a small elf living under my bed too...

^lmao it makes sense why its so expensive?! they have to cart around 1000's of gallons of water pressurized behind the car to keep the fire hydrant operational..
