So is this meant to replace the inline-6 in all the "28" cars?

yes.


Z4, 5series, and X3 get it in December. This gen of 1 series wont get it because production ends the first quarter of 2012.

On page two of that thread one of the bimmer boys says the f series is a terrible engine. Id love to see that new turbo 4 last for 100k and beyond with no issues..

The N55 is based off of the N54 so the article is correct.
