ltm doesn't exagerate their specs, unlike Honda. It will shred a 954 to pieces, bit will be less comfy/practical.
My dead stock 954 weighed just over 410lbs at the track with 2/3 a tank of gas. My own weight was accurate as was my friend's car etc. I haven't dynoed mine personally but they all suggest crank hp of around 150-155hp which is what it is advertised as. Not sure what your point is unless you have a KTM dyno that suggests it has more than the advertised hp or weighs less than the 440. Given it's 6 years newer and more towards a track bike than a supersport street bike I'd hope it would be faster than a older cbr.

Not dissing your 954, as I've ridden one (and the 929) and think they're great bikes....unfortunately one of the last all-around sport bikes designed w/ street use in mind (great ergos and luggage space). The KTM, while only a twin, has about 250cc displacement advantage and should have a broader powerband if not more peak power.

WP suspension is much nicer that the Showa kit of the 954, and the RC8 has a steering damper stock. The more track focused ergos will better weight the front wheel, allowing better feel/traction at high lean angles. Add to that KTM's "secret sauce" (kind of like the Porsche driving experience, LOL) that makes their bikes feel so good, and I have no doubt it will be very fast and confidence inspiring.

There's a reason the 954 didn't have much race success, but it was prob. Honda's greatest sports bike of recent memory for the street.

I'm looking foward to the KTM going against the zx10r, gsxr1k, r1, etc. when it does come out. It has the closest power to weight ratio to them that any vtwin has to my knowledge.

They are both sexy! I'd love that KTM RC8 in all black; its going pop something...either a wheelie or wood.
