new bike
looking at a 2008 r1 ($15K):
Hot Bodies, race body
Galfer Steel Braided Brake Lines, Pads, Brake Vent
Ohlins Cartridges front, Ohlins TTX Rear Shock
Arkrapovic Evolution Exhaust, Full
GPR Steering Stabilizer
KIT ECU and Harness + Power Commander with Quick Shift
CF-Woodcraft Rearsets
Regina 520 Chain + Vortex Sprockets
CF-Woodcraft front and rear stands
sorta brand new, scary fast all setup.
the current owner has all the oem stuff; example plastics, ecu... that i could ebay.
the current owner is a board member with the local racing org here so he is not going to phuck me. than again he is not thinking to budge on the price.
is the 2008 r1 worth it $$

Are you getting the bike to go racing? If so, sounds like a good setup although I have no idea about the value of it all.
Are you getting it because you have sportbike experience and want to get into track days, you can get just as good an experience (better, perhaps) for much, much cheaper with any of the current 600 supersports. Not to mention, say, a two-year-old 2007 CBR600RR or similar.
If you're looking at the bike for any other reason, I suspect that something else would suit you better, and this particular R1 is definitely not worth that cost to you.

there is a 2008 r1 completely stock for $8.5K
there is a 2007 r1, essentially the same bike, comparable setup for $12K, had 2 seasons racing
this bike just sat in the guy's garage for a year, saw little track time.
go racing:
there were several club tracks in denver, all closed 3years ago. they have just completed a new track 76 miles from my house, one of the previous now closed tracks was only 5miles. i almost lived there. i have not been on a track in the 3years.
winter here is sunny dry but a 50 degree track surface, well just not that fast. i would need some time to up the skills. dont want to just jump into this in the spring. maybe some super soft tires, but your always worrying how they might not keep your ass vertical.
if i buy this bike (for $15K) it will be the end of new toys. sell my existing 2000 y-frame gsxr 750 for $3-4K, it has a 2002 1liter engine in it. sell the S as well.
maybe cut up some sharkskinz to fit the street headlamps, add the electrical, second set of wheels, etc. i would still would want to run this bike on the street. i usually get 2-3 tickets a year tho.
i guess still my major thingy is the bike work the cost ?

im sure you could get a brand new R1 with all those mods for around the same price but yours would have zero miles. also with a new one you could street it till you get all those new mods in
