loving it. yeah the last gen 911 Turbo S was the second quickest car Motor Trend ever tested I believe, from 0-60, behind the Veyron.

too bad new Gen Turbo/Turbo S is only PDK...no true manual!

The 0-60 performance metric is becoming increasingly irrelevant at the upper tiers of performance cars. This new 911 Turbo might match or beat a Veyron to 60, but that doesn't mean the cars are in the same performance league. I'd guess that the Veyron would trap about 10mph faster at the end of the quarter mile.

You many be right about the 0-60 times, but car manufacturers still use it as a measuring stick, and way to brag about their performance.

It's like the official Nurburgring times....irrelevant for normal street driving performance, but everyone is trying to one-up the next by who has the fastest times around the 'Ring

It's worse than ring times because 0-60 times in that realm say nothing about the car and everything about the tires. If you're traction limited the whole way, 0-60 doesn't distinguish between a fast car and a crazy fast car.

In the real world of stoplight racing, 0-60 is still very relevant

Completely right. 0-60 used to be about power. Now it's about traction.

0-100 would mean more in terms of supercar performance.

I'd say 0-200kph-0 would be the right metric to compare supercar acceleration capabilities.

With the outgoing 997 Turbo S accelerating from 0-60 in 2.6 seconds, the new 991 should be able to hang with a Veyron up to 100km/h. Food for thought

Can't wait for the GT2
Surprised there are no GTR comments.....
