Default New AMG Owner

After owning four Japanese performance cars in a row, I moved on to a Mercedes-Benz E55 AMG just yesterday.

In January, I sold my CTSC AP2 for an Evo IX MR. My Evo had basic bolt-ons and a flash for 306 awhp. I was perfectly happy with it until I experienced some of my boss' Euro GT cars (Aston Vanquish, MB SL55). I began to appreciate the engine sounds, luxurious interiors, and overall refinement that went along with the strong performance. After weeks of deliberation, I decided to sell the Evo and go after European muscle.

I located an E55 AMG local to me, and test drove it a week ago. I was smitten. I worked out a trade on the Evo, and the big Benz is now sitting in my garage. So far I love the massive torque (516lb-ft!) and the V8 rumble, but I'm still trying to get used to driving a >4,000lb car. I tossed the E55 into a corner that the Evo just eats up, and had a seriously sideways moment when I stomped the gas (forgot that I had disabled ESP).

Here's a pic:

Congratulations! Terrific car. Enjoy it. How did you feel the first time you turned it on at night and saw all the interior and controls subtly lit up? Felt like you were in a starship?

We need not just photos but audio files...Those things sound so good!

Not an even trade...it wasn't that good of a deal! I had to add cash on top of the Evo.

What year?

They are great cars, and prices are dropping like crazy. I just found a 2004 E55 w/ 52k miles for $36K out hear in So Cal. Kicker was, it was that nasty emerald green color. But it's a Benz CPO'd vehicle, and will be a good pick up if you can live with the color

I absolutely love those cars. I don't think I'd want to own one out of warranty but man, that motor is just too nice.
