New 6.2L 510hp Mercedes motor or 7.0L 505hp LS7?

I respect the fact that MB finally got away from turbocharging their engines to make a ton of horses but if i had to choose one engine over the other i think i'd take the Z06 engine, more displacement and i assume more power over the entire powerband

Based on the previous article you posted on GM beating the tar out of a Z06, I'm betting that the LS7 will be the better motor by far. Why? Reliability, for starters - I trust a Vette motor more than a Benz motor, period. Less gimmicks, probably less electronics, and fairly simple in overall design. Then, durability - oversized components where needed to handle the inevetible modifications and power increases. Third, aftermarket support will be better for the LS7. Last, the LS7 is surrounded by a true sportscar - the Benz motor isn't.
Simple to me.

I also applaud MB for going NA instead of always relying on FI for equivalent power to their competitors. However, MB still loves autos, and this engine will likely be bolted to an auto. Tho the engine may be great, the package is what we get, so I'd have to pick the LS7 (w/o knowing the other facts as previously mentioned). The LS7 will be easier to extract power out of...a $350 cam will already make more than $10k worth of NA mods on our cars. And they'll likely offer complete C6R race heads like they already do with the C5R heads for LS1/LS6 guys.
In reading thru the thread tho, I found it funny how many have mentioned the LS7 possibly being superior or they liked it better because it likely has a broader powerband. That's something I've always cared more about, but I see more often ppl concerned with losing the 9000rpm redline on this board when discussing F20C and F22C than they are with a broader powerband.

I think it's safe to say that the LS7 will also be less stressed in developing that power, so it should be a more stable engine in general.
I wonder what these engines weigh.

I pick the LS7 as well. The Mercedes 6.2 will without question be heavier with 3 more cams, bigger heads and more stuff in general attached to it. Plus, as stated, this is a Chevy V8 we're talking about: the modding capability of the LS7 will be beyond compare when contrasted to the Merc V8.
I like Mercs in general, but this is a no-contest Chevy-takes-all comparison IMO. The only Merc that really competes with the Z06 directly is the SLR (technically), and that thing is not only way too expensive, rare and ugly, it doesn't even use the engine in question.

I personally think that although these two motors use the same principles.. comparing them is pointless. They will serve different markets all together. Someone isn't gonna go "Hmmm... Z06... or SL63?"
