I checked the Si out in person today. The interior felt quality and the shifter was very nicely done with black/red stitching. The seats were comfortable but nothing special. The gauge cluster was a bit strange but it seemed to work well with the car. The interior is funky and suits the car well. I think the pictures are a bit deceptive. The one thing I didn't like was the new style grill on the Si. Honestly, I think I'd rather swing for an older generation with the higher redline. Sure this maybe a bit easier to live with but it doesn't exactly have what made Hondas fun to own and drive, lightweight and high revving engines. If the older engine was offered, this would be a great car.

One thing I did notice is that the intake tube is molded to clear the coolant hose causing restriction in the intake. I'm sure this will free up some extra ponies.

As oblivious as Honda of America seems to be sometimes, they have obviously been paying attention to the growing trend of swapping TSX, Accord, and CR-V motors into RSX's and Civics, I think it's a great thing that they decided to upgrade the engine to a K24, I hope it is a sign that performance isn't totally dead, we'll just have to get into a little sport compact to get it from Honda.

Honda has info on the new Civic lineup its rolling out... Interior of the SI looks pretty sharp.

I never thought the day would come when Honda would be so lazy as to just take a bigger and less exciting engine and just throw it into the Si. 0.4 extra liters for 4 horsepower? Just wow. Taking one out of Toyota's playbook I see.
Sure, go ahead and ignore the 31 extra lb-ft of torque that they got as well...

Nah, I'm actually quite aware of that. Also quite aware that this Si has a lower redline than a Mustang GT. Who ever thought that day would come? Brand new Civc Si and it's marginally (if that) better than the model it succeeds, though continues to be inferior to every one of it's competitors. Bravo Honda, Bravo. Maybe I should apply for an engineering job with them? Seems like a pretty easy gig these days.

So, from what i'm gathering on this thread, the Civic Si should have:

-A high revving engine (8k redline, higher than a Mustang GT)
-A torquey engine (2.4L or bigger)
-A lighter curb weight
-A price under $20k

Haha, I have just didn't know how to work it into conversation. Plus it's widely recognized that car was a failure compared to other Si's

They cow towed to the mainstream. A big part of the complaints was that it had a weak low & midrange & that you had to shift the hell out of it to get max hp. Some people liked that & thought it was part of Honda's character, others wanted the Tq. While some may not approve of it, that certainly does make coming out with performance parts for it that much easier.

What bothers me most about the new generation is the front bumper treatment on the coupe, the separation on the front side windows, the mirrors have been moved to the doors rather than left on the a-pillar and last the exhaust manifold is now cast into the cylinder head (no aftermarket header option)
