Those prices are a complete rip-off. Travel to the US and get a car for a fraction of the cost. Despite what people are telling you, it really is not that much trouble at all to import one. My friend from Ottawa just picked one up and drove it back about a month ago.

i think both cars are overpriced. im looking for an s2k as well but the prices are way out of line. if they still made them, a brand new one would be 42k. No way id pay 40 k for one with 10000km on it. not a fan of the spoiler they put on it either, but thats personal taste.

I just took look at your list and I agree that the prices are a bit too much. From what I've seen, '06 s2000 with 40,000km are going for about $26k (Southern Ont).

the 09 you have a 5 year warranty from the day you plate it. s2000 are very expensive if any major parts break just take a look in the under the hood section to get a good idea

The expected cost delta of non-warranty repairs between the two is MUCH less than $14K. Parts may be expensive, but it's a very reliable car if properly driven and maintained.

I'd sell the OP a 5 yr. warranty for much less than $14K!

Well, saw the 06 tonight.. very impressive, but there were issues (drivers window didn't roll down easily, top doesn't go all the way down, wheels rashed and chipped on the inner spoke side (???), and a Compustar installed.

The 50xxx km are mostly highway km's.. going to get it inspected tomorrow.

I like the 09 more - not really a fan of the red interior, but it's hard to argue with $14k saved.

For $14K in savings, a bit of pain would be fine with me. You can get new wheels and have the window fixed for very little money compared to $14K.

Maybe a slight concern would be the top not lining up correctly. Make sure there is no frame (car)damage before proceding. If your intention is to buy, ask the current owner to fix the top before purchasing.

I pulled maintenance records for this vehicle:

18 months into ownership the following was done/diagnosed:

- Oil Leaks (maybe filter wasn't on tight enough)
- Manual Transmission Fluid replaced
- Rear diff oil replaced
- brake rotors machined
- replaced rear brake pads
- brake fluid replaced/bleeded

Then 2 months ago, accessory belt tensioner was faulty and replaced.

Does this point towards something else I should be wary about? Will I be faced with bigger problems later on?

It's higher milage (52,000km for an 06)

Rear tires replaced, fronts need replacement now, as do spark plugs.
