Need Help Picking a Sedan
So, its been a almost 2 years since I bought a car, and I am itching to switch. One of my employees has poor credit so I decided sell my 2000 Accord V-6 to her at a fair price.
So I need a Sedan. My other cars are a 2004 seinna(wife/dog/son) and a NSX. I live 100 miles from a Lexus/Infiniti/Acura dealers so those are most likely out of running. I really don't want 2 cars that need occasional service in Dallas. My budget is variable but I would prefer less than $40k. If I really luved the 5 series I would be willing to pay $55k but I just can't get over the styling.
So, My choices are:
1. Accord V6.
2. Passat 2.0T.
3. Avalon
4. Legacy
5. BMW 3 series
6. BMW 5 series.
Sorry, but I don't really care for the MB's or the Volvo's. So far, the Passat seems to be the best choice. It is more luxurious than the accord, just a roomy as my 2000 Accord and has ESP, traction control, multiple safety features. I am tired of buying generic Honda's. The Tl would be a good choice too. The Lexus GS300 is still in contention because it shouldn't need too much maintenance. Too bad the dealers are so far away.
Anything else I am leaving out?
Anybody have experience with the new Passat or Jetta. I am concerned about their reliability. However, I doubt I will keep it longer than 4 years(bumper to bumper is 4 years, 60k powertrain)

How soon are you looking to buy? The new Camry should be out shortly, shouldn't it?
If you're used to an Accord in size, the 3-series might seem a little small to you.
It is hard that those dealers are far away.

I love these threads!
My personal pref is the Legacy GT Limited - its not as roomy as the Accord, but I love the engine growl, awd and amenities (heated seats, nav, sunroof, etc). Of course you can get these on most of the other cars you listed too, but the Subaru is a more rare car if you're looking to break out of generic cars.
Given that your in TX and already have a truck, you may not need the awd, so I'd look at the Accord too - its just a great car. The 3 and 5 both have almost identical room inside, so I'd probably go with the 3. Not a fan of the Chrysler 300C? SRT8? You can get awd on it too...

Off topic: These are some of the names of towns found in Texas: Palestine, New London, Paris, New boston. We are so international.

Well, that is probably the last VW I will ever bought.
But, who knows, maybe the new one is better.
Where are they made?
