Need a daily driver

My friend had the 1st gen TSX a while ago, and I thought the car was superb.
I'd definitely go with the TSX.
But wow, a used TSX still costs as much as a brand new Civic SI?
No wonder Acura has one of the highest resale values!

I made the same decision last year (different model years, but same car choices, along with a Mazdaspeed 3). I still have the S2000 as my fun / weekend car, but needed a 4 door "family car".
After driving them both, I just found the Civic too much fun to pass on. I was able to get a new one for cheaper than the approx. 2 year old + TSX's that I was looking at, and the Civic is certainly comfortable enough for me in my daily driving (the seats are excellent). I also get great gas mileage (26 - 28 in combined, but mostly city, driving) & it's just more raw (intake / exhaust noise) than the TSX when you're pushing it (but not obnoxiously so).
On the down side, it obviously isn't as comfortable as the TSX, and certainly not as "grown up". Also, insurance is higher on the SI. FYI, I'm in my early 30's as well & don't feel odd at all driving the SI sedan (just my opinion).
Looking back, I would make the same decision again. Would I buy the TSX if it was in great condition & I got a great price (+6mt), sure...but the Civic SI has been a blast & entirely reliable & I'm looking forward to enjoying it & beating it up for many years.
I'd be glad to answer any specific questions that you might have on the SI - I've had it long enough to find out most of the good things & the not as good things...
Whatever decision you make, you'll be happy. It mainly comes down to raw fun & newness over slightly less new but more luxury. They're both great cars that you will enjoy for many years.

I narrowed my purchase down to in essensce...the same 2 cars but I bought last year. I was looking at a new Civic Si sedan versus a used TSX. Both are really great cars and while I licked the more nimble nature of the Civic...the seats and interior of the TSX just looks worlds apart. While not as nimble the TSX is still fun to drive...I put a nice set of coilovers, some rims and tinted the windows and it looks great. I found a 2007 6 speed...no navi...black w/ tan interior at Carmax and haggled em to just over $20K OTD w/ about 19K miles on it. I'm convinced every time I drive it that I made the right decision...very comfortable and the 6 speed is as smooth and silky as the one in the S2000. It's not very quick but the revvy nature of the engine and good feel the car has make it enjoyable to drive still. I would probably add the Comptech blower if Hondata had the 07+ ECU's figured out but it's a real solid little car. It has HID's and interior you can't get in a Civic but you can't go wrong either way. Good luck with your decision.

Having previously owned a tsx (now in a cr), I would definitely go for one. IMO it is the perfect daily driver. Comfortable, fairly sporty, good mileage, great reliability (had 0 probs with mine in 4 yrs), awesome stereo/nav system. Plus at 32, an si? seriously?
