The thing these never ending incentives does to resale is very bad. Why buy a used GM if you can get a new one for such a good deal?
The same thing is happening to the S2000 right now but everyone still seems to pick on GM.

are you serious? a 2002 Z06 was over 50k brand spankin new. I almost bought a used 2002 with less the 5k miles for 40k.
Yes...I'm dead serious. Where in the heck would you pay 50k for a brand new 02 Z06? Were you in Singapore or something? Do the numbers on the S2000's depreciation. I fully agree it is better than a C5 but that is ONLY because of the quantity. There are nowhere near as many S2000's therefore the price stays up a bit more than the typical car. Do the math percentage wise though and you will see that the S2K is pretty much on par with the C5. Look at the prices the 00's and 01's are going for now and consider that those owners, if originals, are the ones that got taken in the beginning. Let's assume $37k after taxes, and that's being generous, and now they sell for $20-$23 depending on condition and mileage. Like I said...do the math.

When I was looking at vettes I could see that three year olds, fresh off the lease, averaged $33K asking price. That's for a car with an average selling price near $45K (base model with some options). Can't say if that's more or less than average.

Sorry man, but it's not just limited numbers that keep S2000s from depreciating.

Get the heads up display, you'll love it!! Outside of that a coupe (targa) with 6 speed should make you very happy. Z06's are faster, but it's very easy to just make a C5 equal to a Z06, there's much less difference than most think, and the targa ia nice.

Watch out for 2001, they had some big oil consumption issues.
2001 on got a 5hp and 25 torque boost (you will notice).
2000 on got much lighter wheel to help performance.
Get the Z51 suspension, not F45.

This is what I was thinking, even though I can afford the Z06 I don't think its the best option. I'm currently trying to find an 01 with about 17K miles for a straight trade for my 02 S.

I'm starting to part my car today
