Wow, you're sticking up for the 350z? The ugliest craptastic car Nissan has produced from their vile sphincter?

Grats man.

I do not think the Z is a bad car either.

I think Chris secretly really wants a CR so he can get out of his girlie car. He even took the pic down
I didn't take anything down - it's a Flickr issue.

Trust me, I'd get a CR if I wanted one, but it's very unlikely I'll get another S. I'll just burn some rubber in the M3 when I want to feel manly.

wow, your ignorant, better than thou attitude is intoxicating.

grats man.

I don't care if the 350z isn't your favorite car. I don't care if you think it's ugly. I don't even care what the weather is like where you are.

Because, The VQ was on the top 10 engine list 2002-2007. I think some models, if not all have very comparable numbers to the s2k. Depending on who you trust, teh 1/4 mile is sometimes quicker and the skidpad is sometimes higher. Lets not start with torque.

I will agree the interior is shtty, and the s2k is overall a nicer ride... that still doesn't lead me to write it off and act like I'm better than everyone else.

Sure, but I want a Porsche. I've thought about just getting an NC like Chris and modifying it similarly, and may still do it. Time will tell. I have lots of time to think about it. The idea of having a track car that's as quick as an S2000 around a course while having significantly lower running costs is very tempting.

A Boxster S/Cayman S or even a 997S is very tempting, though. I only track once or twice a year (when I had my S2000) but if I got more involved, a Miata actually makes a ton of sense. I can tow it to and from the track now, since I have a truck, and still use it daily if I want.
This is a pretty good point, I think, and pretty much the way I looked at it when I decided to use an NC for my track car. I was fortunate enough to be able to look for the best balance of track applications without concern for the street drivability of the car, and all things considered, the NC MX5 came out on top.

For me, it was the best blend of performance, aftermarket options, cost to repair, durability and ease of transition/conversion to a track car. The Porsches are too expensive to run and repair, the Lotus cars are fragile and the 350Z was heavier than I like (and it doesn't get people as pissed off when you pass them ) but was probably my next choice after the NC other than a Z06. (FWIW, I don't personally like the feel of an S2K on track.. It's a great car, but the feel of it just isn't my thing - similar to how I feel about the Z4 M coupe.)

I basically bought a car with the intention of using it primarily for the track, and with that reasoning, I truly feel the NC is one of the best options out there right now. I am also considering running MX5 pro cup next year and wanted to get some time in a similar car prior to deciding...

If I was looking at it the other way - i.e a street car that would track a few times a year, I likely would have looked at the Porsches or the Lotus cars first, or perhaps a GTR or the Z06 corvette.

When images of the C5 first started showing up in every car publication known to man, I had the same thought; I saw FD and NSX styling cues in the C5. I'm not claiming that it's official or anything like that but that was and still is my opinion.
Where, exactly? I see 3 coupes with side vents and aggressive stances, but that's about it. Anything that could be called a RX7 or NSX styling cue is something that is more probably attributed to older Corvette inspiration such as the C3 Stingray or 1963 Grand Sport. The C5's curves look more like toned down versions of the ones found on those cars as opposed to anything seen on the RX7 or NSX.

I'm not trying to start a fight; I'm just wondering what parts specifically you see as inspired by the RX7 or NSX.
