Swore off this thread but figured id stop by to announce the new progress.
Stripping the Elise to frame and re-building with a few mods. Lots to come, but if you'd like to follow the build I have dedicated a page to it. Only a week into it so far so not too much done yet. This build will be on or above par with my S2k build.
Some of the work will include:
Full cleaning and corrosion repair to "like new" condition.
Complete re-work of the brakes. Rotors, Pads, Re-building calipers.
New all aluminum radiator (Stock took a crap)
New shift linkage (Also failed, and a source of "slop" in the shifter)
New tires
POSSIBLY LSS Wheels
New V2 Custom front splitter with more design for function.
Custom modified rear diffuser.
New seats.
New hard-top and door insert apolstry.
New keyless entry (stock sucks)
Modular quick release rear clam kit. (Hinge cost's too much)

Kind of glad this thread got a bump because reading the OP's first post sounded much like how I describe my experience with my own Elise. On a daily basis, I almost hate it. But oooohhhh, take it to the canyons and I love it again.
Probably 80% of what he wrote is identical to what I've experienced and felt. Biggest difference is I still have my S2000.

Not to sidetrack the original conversation, but it's not really a tough choice. On a daily basis, I am now in a 2013 Hyundai Accent Hatchback. Until about 6 weeks ago I was in an '07 Yaris hatch daily. Seriously, the Elise is not pleasant for daily. If the Accent weren't in the mix, I would probably choose the S most days for what I do. But that's just me and for my uses (driving up to a client site in an Elise isn't good -- transporting my tech equipment in the Elise just isn't good...).

Just to comment on which car is a better panty dropper (since that was brought up previously)...but has anyone looked at Chazz's website pics? His exgf (hottie) dropped her panties for some pics he took with his S2000, so that seemed to work great for that purpose.
Loved your S BTW.
