Man Quikag, that's like saying my bazooka sucks because everyone else is duck hunting with tanks while slingshots are the norm.

wow.

the LS9 torque curve just eclipses the 8.4L Viper engine.

Sorry guys, it was a tongue in cheek comment. Obviously, I know the LS3 is a great motor. It's what encouraged me to jump back into the Vette fold. However, it really does seem the new Viper motor and the LS9 are absolute beasts.

On a few other car boards, guys have gotten 600RWHP!!!! out of a bolt-on only new Viper motor. That is impressive and will only pale in comparison to what people are going to get out of the forged LS9 motor.

In the meantime, I'll be happy with 430-440rwhp with bolt-ons (intake, long-tube headers, and cat-back) on my upcoming LS3 Vette. It'll be enough to keep up with the majority of the guys I run against at the track days.

The LS3 responds to simple mods ( CAI,Tune,Headers,Catback etc.) better than the LS2.You should have a lot of fun modding your car.I saw on the Corvette Forum where someone broke into the high 11's with around a 121mph trap just with K and N Cai and tune with the auto.

Yes, the LS3 responds extremely well to mods. As mentioned, I'm hoping for 430-440rwhp with only cold air intake, long-tube headers, and cat-back. I'm not into tuning as I'd rather run rich and safe than mess with the factory programming that is designed for 200k mile durability standards. That philosophy worked very well on my old '01 C5 with the LS1. She ran strong and safe for thousands of track miles. Just added some extra oil (per the owners manual) and went balls out on the track.

You have to like that smooth early rate-of-rise! Might not be impossible to launch.

Have we seen a firm price on that LS9 equipped monster yet? I believe it'll be high enough to be unobtanium to me. Today's Z06 is right at the hairy edge for me (of course, if I was still single...).

Something's not right with the LS3 chart - the torque and hp curves for the other engines cross at 5252 rpm, which is proper. But not with the LS3 curves. For example, at 4400 rpm the torque is 420 lb-ft, which should translate to 351 hp. However they have it listed as 390 hp.

I think the have it shifted to the left, actually. The LS3 doesn't redline at 5700 rpm, does it?

Good eye, Mark. It does appear that they need to shift the LS3 curve to the right. Redline is 6,500rpm on the LS3.

I can't believe a motor as great as the LS3 looks so weak compared to those other motors. Check out the torque curve on the LS9!!
how does it feel to have such a slow car?

wait....

j/k, the LS3 is great!
