Do want an Elise.
I'll sell you mine, have my eye on a 996 GT3 to replace it.

Wow cosmos, there's this thing that's pretty badass, its called picture resizing lol. Oh snap Ninja edit, nvm. And the car wasn't designed for R compound tires so how can you complain about body roll with slicks on the car?

The 2ZZ was a poor choice for the Elise, having had two celicas with the same engine/trans combo, trust me I know. The only reason the Elise is fast is because its weight. The transmission is terrible, reliable but the shifting is ridiculously difficult unless you have a trucks shift lever. I'd love to buy a flood damaged Elise, put new wiring in it and put a 3ZZ 2.0L engine in it that would make about 220-240hp.

You need to think historically. The S2000 "was" the Lotus when it came out... considered bare bones street race car. All the BMW guys were like.. but.. but.. it wont warm your buttox with fancy seats!
Actually, the Elise came to market 3 years before the S2000 - just not the US. BTW, my MX-5 proves that seat heaters and light weight aren't mutually exclusive.

Ummm yes the car was specifically designed to work with R-compound tires. They even formulated a special variant of an existing R compound tire for the Elise with the LTS model designation as part of the sport pack. Regardless of tires choice when you're throwing it back and forth through a slalom it still has body roll, and I'm not complaining about it just making an observation. It still makes the S2000 feel like a yacht.

The better swap to put in this car would be the K20. A few people have done it successfully (although not without much effort and some $)

The better swap is a 3ZZ IMO, its the same engine, wires right up, will make more power than the K20 and will only cost about $3k to have a fully built engine, so its much cheaper and less time consuming as well. I fully priced a K20 unit for my CRX, $8k for everything said and done, the K20engine/trans and harness will cost you at least $4k.

That kit is $2,800 plus you still have to get someone to put it together and you still need some sort of fuel management setup. There's no way in hell you could have it running turnkey for less than $4K. I would much rather have the K20 factory reliablity and make 220-230 whp on boltons. The Trial 3ZZ stroker only made 220 hp on 105 octane gas and is still in danger of blowing up if you keep revving it to 8K without upgrading the valves. The only advantage is that it's essentially a 2zz engine that bolts up.

I've been driving it daily since I got it and I like it quite a bit. It doesn't have the Track pack and it has the Touring package, not sure if that helps or not. Either way, the ride doesn't bother me. It's better than tooling around in my Volvo, which I'm sure I will resume driving once the new car factor wears off. As for appreciation, I was referring to the car's value vs. what I paid for it (less than $25). It may not appreciate, but I don't think I will ever lose much money on it. The S2000 transmission is most definitely superior, but I don't hate the shifter in the Elise. It is a bit difficult to downshift from 5th to 4th for some reason, however.

Make sure your car had the shifter recall done on it since it's an 05.

Thanks. The PO said they were all done, but I will double check on that one specifically.

Ninja edit: my VIN is just beyond

Beginning: SCCPC11155HL30002
Ending: SCCPC11105HL32482
