Default My RX8 obsession lol - on my 6th one... :D

Hi.. my name is Scot and I like RX8's... lol... they have same quick steering and shifter as S2000... slightly slower due to the extra weight but way easier to do burnouts in..

About 3 years ago I got this yellow 2004 on ebay for $7k and it had a brand new mazda replaced motor - It had cloth seats and no sunroof so I sold it

Next was a grey one that had a dying motor... I paid for new motor which had 100 miles on it when it got wrecked into a out of control dodge viper. lol. I made a couple $ from his insurance paying me for the damage then selling the wrecked car on ebay.

then a 2005 white one that I lowered on KW V3's, Greddy Exhaust, Tint... I kept it a year and lost about $1k for the 10k miles I drove it..

Just bought #6 this past weekend.. Black 2007 with 20k miles. Plan to put the factory spoilers on it, tint and that's about it for now.

RX-8's are underrated and great cars. I had an 05 sport winning blue 6MT and I loved it. To me it was 90% the performance of a S2000 with 2X the practicality and comfort. Mine got decent gas mileage (17-18 mpg) was pretty reliable (no engine flooding, cold start issues). Funny story I was looking for a daily beater to go with the GT-R a few months ago. Looked on autotrader and saw a car that looked exactly like my old one. I sold it to a 60 year old grandmother that wanted a fun toy because she couldn't ride her motorcycle anymore (badass lady). Turns out it was my car and they were selling it but already had a buyer on the hook or else I would have bought it back. They had no issues with it in the 4 years they owned it.

Here's a pic of it with my 93LE Miata and S2000. All cars I miss.

Always thought this was a good looking car, wish someone put an F22 in it.

When I think RX8, all I see is:

ya.... my current one has a factory warranty on the engine until early in 2016.... the 2nd yellow one that I bought I took to the dealer to have a new short block put in... of course other shit was messed up and I paid $6k to get it back on the road.... so I had $10k into a $7k car right from the start....

Just buy them with bad engines and drop LS1s in.

they are reasonable fast, comfortable, useful, etc..... I can't take my Dodge anywhere without some idiot almost driving into me attempting to take pics, etc.... I really wish I could get another 200 reliable hp out of an RX8 but..... not going to happen...

Changing the engine in an rx8 is like changing the oil on a honda. Why would you be intrested in somthing like that? Who cares what it drives like.

I got a $15k quote to do that from a place in Baltimore.... that is a bit too much $ for what it would be.... plus the rear end would probably blow apart and the a/c and heat probably wouldn't work.... so I would have a $20k time bomb with no heat or ac... ahahhaha

I'm curious why you kept buying ones with problems instead of buying one that was in perfect running order. You clearly like RX8s so why didn't just get one from the start that was good?
