I almost ordered a M3 about a year ago, but I wanted a "sports car" in other words a light 2 seater, the M3 is more of a "muscle car"+ luxury. I got my sports car fix with the S2000.

The M3 was racing with a V8 and so I feel it should be sold with one and/or the M3 CLS (is the only M3 I want at this point).

I think MB and Audi have lit a fire under BMW now well behind in HP with the M3/M5/760 etc... So the next M3/M4 will leapfrog the E46 M3 to such an extent that it's worth waiting 2-3 years.

M4
C6 Z06
Boxster coupe
911 (next gen) ?
NSX (next gen) ?
RX-7 (next gen) ?

In 2-3 years I can see spending up to $100K for a car. That excludes the baby Lambo and any new Ferrari and also excludes the Ford GT.

Cars (that will be used) on the radar 2-3 years from now are:

GT2
GT3
911 tt
360 Modena
550M

Of the used cars I guess the 360 Modena is my most coveted.

550M is nice but it's weighs 3725 lbs and so will be near as heavy as the M6 (in theory) and let's say they both cost $90K that's a 5 year old Ferrari vs. a brand new BMW. On paper they are a wash except the Ferrari V12 mystique.

I'm waiting for an M5, and I'll keep my S for my sports car fix.

Nothing short of a Ferrari to me provides the thrill my S does.
