Default My dangerous bike encounter on the highway

This happened about a week ago on the highway around here. I was coming back from a hookah bar with a buddie of mine in his car.

I was wearing a tighter fitting waffle knit shirt and I was going about 80 and it started blowing up. (It is the type of shirt that will stay down if you have it right)

So I sped up to get a large gap in front of everyone before I stood up to pull my shirt back down.

I do not have a throttle lock so I was loosing speed from about 100, and when I slowed to about 80 while adjusting my shirt this car comes flying by me - IN MY LANE - no more than a foot from me and had to be doing about 120.

I got sooo pissed.. I was in the right lane for crying out loud!

Needless to say, I let him get some room, took off, did about a 130 flyby mirror slap.

People are really stupid. My retaliation was prob not the smartest thing to do, but it sure did make me feel better.

When you are on a bike, s**t like this happens a lot. Like there was one time when i was entering a freeway ramp and some sutpid mercedes hella floored it and almost hit me just so he can go in front.

I was thinking about catching him and breaking his mirror too but if i break his mirror, he would knock me off my bike.

Broken mirror does not = Broken Bones and possible death

Usually douchebags like that don't give a shit about you since they alraedy risked your life once you know

Glad you're okay
Just stay safe man

If I did more than just shake my head at every clueless driver that unintentionally tries to kill me I'd be in jail or dead by now. It happens on almost every ride. You've got to let 'em go and take deep breaths.

the very best thing is you did not get hurt.

my mirrors had a great view of my shoulders and took them off for my first track day they went into the trash after that. i got a single small convex mirror on the left bar end slider. dont trust a mirror, from time to time rotate around and look who is in back.

tell me i am wrong but your worst enemy is that your are riding on the street. it dosnt matter if a deer runs out in front of you or a car takes you out. all the same. t-shirts and stuff always ride up in back and it looks so ghay.

-i get a laugh on how more safe riders think they are by getting a 250 or something as apposed to a 1000 sportbike. when your time is up your just gone.
-encourage everyone you know to wear the gear:
some sort of jacket
full face helmet
racing gloves
boots, like a pair of sidi

I wasn't going to nag him but why don't you include riding pants in your gear list? Skin grafts hurt just as much on your legs.

Which lane position were you in?

I'm not trying to defend what this cager did but if you were standing up and in the right position, he may have thought you were turning without a signal (even though you were doing 80) or slowing to fix a problem and he blew past you.

How many times on a bike do you blow around a cager making a right hand turn from the same lane you're in?
