This concept car was assembled using race parts, parts that are approved for use in several different race series. It is not a "real" racecar, only in the sense that it was not assembled for a particular series, but rather to demonstrate what could be done to run in many different racing series. Alot of ricers try to make their car look like the racecars they see on tv. Therefore, the similarity to a racecar is intended. On this Mustang, all the parts are functional, rather than tacked on by a moron. The Mustang chassis has been winning races for longer than most Japanese car makers have been making cars. It is Japanese cars that copy the American racecar look, and with a fartcan muffler, they attempt to emulate the loud exhaust of an American V8.
