the 2011 Mustang GT sounds great on paper, and by all accounts it's a great performance bargain. I'm just wondering if all the upgrades that GT500 comes with is worth the extra money?
thoughts?

Good question, i think for a daily driver id go GT but for fun weekend car id go GT500. also money wise you can find used with fairly low mileage 07-09 GT500's for about the same price as a '11 GT. I've been seriously thinking of trading my tahoe in a on a GT but if i could have a cobra for nearly the same price it's a tough call.

It's still a 140 hp difference. Like others have said, if you can afford it go for it, especially now that they are aluminum blocks so they are not so front heavy.

You guys are just talking power.. Their is more to the gt500 besides its power difference. for one a 6 speed transmission then the interior is MUCH better. Not to mention upgraded handling .
A friend of mine had a heavily modded gt that was pretty close to the speed of a gt500. He recently purchased a gt500 and has had no regrets. Its an amazing car.

That's like asking if the M3 is worth the extra money over the 335is. If one can afford it, then the answer is yes.
