it's all been done.
So popular to bash anything domestic on these forums, but I guess in all fairness the likes of the s2000 get the same kind of brainless banter on the mustang forums as well.

if you think basic mods like a set of track tires and track pads don't make a huge difference then all the CAPS in the world won't change your mind. you better believe they make a MUCH larger difference on a GT coming from OEM than they do on a CR coming from OEM.
I know you hate data, but let's bring some more anyway.
The suspension modifications the two cars are allowed in Touring are a subset that they would be allowed in autocross' Street Prepared class. That being the case, it's informative to look at autocross' PAX index -- a widely accepted way of comparing the capabilities of cars at different preparation levels.
A stock S2000 is classed in A Stock; with more modifications, it climbs to B Street Prepared. The PAX index for AS is 0.843, while the index for BSP is 0.859 -- the suspension mods increase its index by 0.016.
A stock Mustang is classed in F Stock; with more modifications, it climbs to E Street Prepared. The PAX index for FS is 0.833, while the index for ESP is 0.846 -- the suspension mods increase its index by 0.013. The Mustang actually gains less from the modifications than the S2000 does.
Mind you, this is autocross data, but suspension changes actually make more of a difference around an autocross course than around a road course.

i wonder what car would degrade faster on a road course. A stock CR s2000 with OEM tires and brakes or a stock GT with OEM tires and brakes....rhetorical question. have a nice day.
