Interesting article about the MSpeed Cayman:

Two parts were very interesting:
To much weight in the rear? no traction up front?
And this one was even more interesting:
Why does Porsche not want to see a cayman race car?

Two parts were very interesting:
"We decided to start the Cayman project in late fall last year , simply because the Cayman is a great base for a race car." , explains driver Stefan Beil. The mid-engined Cayman handles much more balanced , without the Carrera-typical understeering at corner exits.
And this one was even more interesting:
Porsche stated they wouldn't exactly want to see a Cayman on the race track , but Team MSpeed sticks by their motto : " We wouldn't be MSpeed if we woulnd't try it at least"

I read somewhere else that Porsche will start racing the cayman once some kind of patent process is over...whatever that means. I personally believe this is the beginning of the end of the 911 as the hard core racer Porsche. I believe we will see it become more and more of a GT while the cayman or it's children take over the role of the race car. The 911 could go mid-engine, but I think it's less likely that will happen then my other hypothesis.

Someone needs to start putting GT3 motors in Caymans.

Someone "could" put a GT3 motor into a Cayman but the main thing preventing it seems to be that the GT3 motor does not mount up to the Cayman/Boxster/911/911 S transmission. Therefore, not only would you have to buy a new motor but a tranny as well which equals only God knows how much.
