Keep in mind though, that until fairly recently (maybe 01 or 02?) they had a separate award for American and Foreign COTY. So, say, the '90 Towncar only had to beat out all the other '80s American pieces of shit, not, say, the new Lexus LS400 or Infiniti Q45, which I think both debuted that year.
Just out of curiosity, do you have any idea how 1985 COTY was a Volkwagen?

The mouthbreathers at Motor Trend probably got confused. I don't know.

I have noticed that MT is a much better magazine lately, seems like the did a redesign that really turned them around.

I checked out the Civic SI at a car show, and it is leaps and bounds ahead of the previous one. Good job Honda on nailing the redesign. It without question looks better (even the dash), but it is measurably better in every tanglible area.

The only downside I'd have to mention is the nav system...it has an array of tiny buttons that have to be looked at for more than a second to really read. Maybe once owners are familiar with it after a few weeks, it won't be so bad, but considering the excellent package this system was contained within, it seemed like the most obvious low point, and an ergonomic faux pas in a sea of high execution.

Anyone know definitively when the Si is supposed to be on dealers lots?
Was supposed to hit the Honda dealers lot here in Topeka this month...but I have yet to drive by and see anything but the other trim levels sitting on the lot.

With the positive press I have seen, I am willing to bet the demand for the new Si will out pace the supply. It would be a car I would consider down the road for a daily driver, if it was AWD.

Dude, I remember lusting after a Probe GT, especially after the test drive. That V6 sounded SWEET back in the day.
Ditto on that - it was my dream affordable car in sixth grade.
