Gawddarn California dealers, they markup anything. THey are such loosers! Before I got here in Cali I only saw markup on new release specialty cars. I just saw markups on a Hyundai sonata at a cali dealer for god's sake!

STi has 300hp, 300lb-ft which is more than the Evo 8.
Evo 8 has an AWD system cheapened, like the WRX is a cheaper version of the STi. It has an open front differential, viscousity center diff, and torsen rear, I believe. Quite heavy too. Bare bone the base model weighs 1480kg which is quite heavy for any car. I don't know what the STi will weigh, however.
STi has some type of limited slip front and rear, and a computerized variable center diff, with torque split. So for those windling tarmac roads or the track, you put it to 33% front and 67% rear. 50/50 for slippery surfaces.
STi has inverted struts all around. Supposed to help keeping unsprung weight down. Interior has better build quality and it is most likely not as hardly sprung - unless the american Evo 8 is less sharp than the other Evo's (they changed enough already - cupholders and other crap).
STi has 6 speed manual, but Evo has 5 speed? I don't recall for sure.
In my opinion the Evo 8 sold in USA is highly watered down. It's the heaviest Evo ever but with the least of the goodies. A natural under steerer compared to the other evo's and the STi.

The STI will not have a sunroof! The 2004 WRX will have it as an option, however. STi doesn't have a sunroof because of the loss of rigidity in the frame.
And if you're wondering how the STi and EVO8 compare.. they don't. STi is greater than the EVO8 in many aspects. The Subaru has more horsepower and torque, PLUS a DCCD (Driver-Controlled Center Differential) so you can split the power between a 45%(?) front bias to a 65% rear bias.
Oh, and another thing. The EVO8 has the carbon fiber wing as an option. You can get the OZ-Rally wing if you so prefer.

Mitsu better stop marking the damn things up so much. A dealer that my buddy works at just got one in and the market adjustment is $10k. Making the sticker over $40k. That is just stupid

They decide not to bring the Evo (or the Sti) over year after year because they're not sure about demand for the car. Then they finally bring it over and (because demand is so high) they mark it up 50%. Irony at its finest.
