Modern "s2000"
Hi S2KI,
I have owned a total of six lower mileage S2ks over the years and I have sold several only to come back and buy another. I have not found a car that gives me the steering feel and raw factor as the S2000. Is there such a thing as a moden S2000 equivalent in todays vehicles? I just bought a 2020 Supra and love the styling, ride comfort and fit and finish, but I wish I had more feedback from the steering...
Question is, 1) what would you consider to be a car like the S2000 with a modern twist. I have yet to find one, maybe I have not driven something that may be worth driving?
2) What great quality mods can be done to the Stock S2ks to make them more modern(better suspension even and more power) , but still retain the excellent steering feel of S2ks?
Thank you much!
Pic for attention!!!

the answer is ND Miata- no question. THE best manual shift I've driven. Fun to drive with the increased power. I'd consider one.
maybe if the supra came with a manual, but I haven't driven one yet.

The answer is always (ND2) Miata.
Nothing against the S, it did take 20 years, but the ND2 is the better car.

Hi,
i will recommend you a Lotus Evora. it's light weight , balance, and fast also practical but no convertible!!! you can feel the feedback from the steering, really fun and unique!!!!!

Nd2. Its as fast NBA straight line, lighter, much more comfortable although lacking slightly in space, much more refined but still plenty tossable. And it comes in a hardtop that doesnt squeak, rattle, or get stolen.

Ferrari California reminds me of an upscale S2000. Great steering feel and brakes, powerful, engine revs well and sounds amazing. Convertible obviously, striking looks and easy to wash. Vantage V8 (or V12) Volante fits the same descriptors as the California.
The Aston's are available in manual and California's paddles are best paddle's around. Super fun to drive.

I never liked the looks of the Miata, so sad to say, I never even considered one. Today is the first time I have heard of the ND2 Miata and I love cars. Thank you guys, I appreciate the feedback, I need to drive a Miata and Evora. Ferrari and Aston are out of price point
More options if possible please!!!

Evora is the most exciting driving car you can buy for the money. Truly feels like you're a rock star race car driver in it. Highly recommended. How about an older Cayman S?

Z4 M coupe / roadster would be very similar to an S2000. They're heavier so they aren't quite as agile but the general nature of the engine (pulls hard to redline, loves to rev) and the quick steering make them very similar in feel.
The S2000 has responsive steering but it's not that communicative. A Toyota 86 or Subaru BRZ feels way better, for instance.
