Mitsubishi sportback? WTF is with the price?
The hyundai elantra touring is 1000bucks cheaper then the sedan
The subaru impreza hatch/wagon is 900bucks more then the sedan
The mitsubishi lancer sportback is 6900bucks more then the lancer sedan
????
Why is it 7k more then the sedan??? It has the same motor and tranny... just a bit more sheet metal on the ass end. I might consider this car, as I am shopping for a wagon style family car, but I cant justify a 7k price increase.
Just figured I would start up a convo about this.
(all prices are in Canada)

I beliebe you are comparing the base Lancer sedan (DE) to a base Sportback (which is a GTS = bigger engine, more kit)
$16,598 vs $23,498
The DE sedan has a 2.0L 152hp engine, while the GTS has a 2.4L 168hp. I think the GTS has ''sportier'' suspension tuning, bigger wheels, etc.
You are better off comparing the GTS sedan to the GTS sportback
$22,998 vs $23,498
Have you looked at the new Mazda3 or the Matrix/Vibe or the Golf?

those being the canadian prices...the difference isn't big anymore
Also, the reason why the Elantra Touring is cheaper than the sedan might have to do something with the fact that it is based on the i30 (European-only car), a car that is totally different to the NA Elantra. The Touring and sedan share the same engine and running gear though.

wrx wagons are far to pricey in Canada. Plus I got an s2000 as my "cool" car, I dont need another expensive car. Just looking for a descent wagon style car that isnt too too pricey
I didnt notice that GTS aspect, thanks for pointing that out.

wrx msrp here is 32k... after taxes and all the extra crap it is pushing 38k. Far to much cash for me. I would consider the impreza wagon, but the seats are ruthlessly uncomfortable.
