The new CTS has direct ignition 218-cu-in 304hp, the 'new' C-class 213-cu-in with 268hp.

I call those two engines about the same size and the Caddy has 36 more hp and the G37 has 62 more hp.

MB with all this F1 technology etc.. could easily make 300hp in a large V6
It's interesting to me that Nissan doesn't even yet use direct injection on the VQ, yet they're still getting 306 h.p. out of 3.5 liters (and 330 h.p. out of 3.7 liters). It'd be interesting to see what they could do applying direct injection to the updated VQ.

GM gets the 300+ on 87 octane which is nice.

Interior looks slick, exterior looks like a turd. This is not something I'd consider buying.

Pass, if I were into German cars I'd ge the 3 series. I read in car and driver the optioned C class cost just as much as a optioned 335i. The 335i will smoke the C class and looks better. For some reason I can see a lot of Asian and Mexican Americans driving the new C class though...don't really know why?

The car is actually quite nice. I got a chance to sit in one when Mercedes-Benz came to my work for an 08 product review and they had one in the parking lot to check out. Overall inside and out i thought it was a very sharp looking car. I would buy one.

MB is supposedly working on replacing the 3.5 liter engines that have a power output of 272hp (in Europe, I think that's 268 in the US), to something along the lines of 296hp.

The styling and interior is still a little boring for me. Most importantly, it doesn't come in a manual.

300s come with manuals, but the 350s don't
