A turbo adding 40 horses is a bit lame. Maybe it only adds that much because that amount falls within production confines and limits of the engine.

Even the old Buick GN had a much more marked increase with the addition of a turbo to the 3800. When they added the turbo, power shot from something like 130hp/~180 torque to 250hp/~320 torque. And that's on an old design using a rather small turbo (by today's standards).

Turbo lag is a bit lame. The big selling point of the Miata is that it's light, simple, and direct. Putting a turbo in the car period corrupts that; at least Mazda used a small, low-boost, low-lag turbo.

If you want a drag car, buy a Camaro. If you want a lightweight roadster, buy a Miata.

"rx8 looks and handles bad." Neeks you have no clu wat u r talking about... ok maybe the looks arent for everyone, but saying that it handles poorly is ignorant. it pulled .91 g's on caranddriver's rotary revival comparo test. i own one and it carves corners like a steak knife carving a potato. plus its no slower than the 2000-03 s2000's so do research before you post. oh and for those wondering yes the mzspeed version will be supercharged. btw mazda may not want to put out insane amounts of horsepower because of hmm lets see either way way way too much tire spin or the fact that they want to keep boost levels low in order to ensure longer longevity for the engine. nuff said

I think you might be talking about the Mazdaspeed 6 which will be based on the MPS concept.
