you can dd an FD, but you will spend about twice as much doing it as you would an S2000, with gas, increased frequency of oil changes, spark plugs, etc...plus that it's a 15 year old car and you can plan on upgrading alot of worn out parts like bushings, etc

Wow that 16X engine sounds pretty impressive and in a lightweight capable chassis that would be pretty competitive

I was surprised how fun it was to drive.
I also loved the interior. plus, you can stuff in 4 people inside an RX8.
Engine noise was very unique and pleasing as well.
Other than the MPG, oil consumption, and engine flooding issue, I think it's a nice car.
I wouldn't be afraid to own one.
Oh, and I'd definitely take it over an Si.

Handling is definitely on par with the s2k. The power is not however, but it's not bad.

i have never really liked the car, but i can't put my finger on why. just didnt click with me when i have drove/ridden in it. it may be that it falls victim to the powerband being so smooth, that you never really get a kick in the backside.
I would throw in that you should take a look at the Legacy GT, i have always liked those, and it is kinda a sleeper with the COBB upgrades.

dude what are you talking about? the RX-8 has 232 hp. that's like 5 hp less than ap2. and it has 159 lbt. and for city driving its only a few mpg less than the s2000. same as highway driving. and that's not bad for a 1.3L rotary engine. and it shifts at 9,000 rpms just like the s2000. its also a six speed. and it costs thousands of dollars less than the s2000. op don't let any of these guys say an rx 8 is a bad choice, cause its a fantastic car. and it is an s2000 competitor based on performance and handling. o and the 0-60 mph are basically the same as a s. whatever you decide, it will be a good decision
