Tesla has barely delivered 150 cars and they are already offering an upgrade to their original car.

It looks pretty good though.

No, it does 50 miles all electric, then it runs off the turbo 4-banger while it recharges the batteries.

The turbo 4 banger is used solely as a generator, so technically it is a series hybrid. With plug in capabilities they're calling it a range extended EV..

My friend got an email yesterday from Tesla that they are bringing a roadster here for us to test drive. I'll post a thread if/when it happens on how it happens.

wildcard youve got my hero setup under the hood, how could you consider leaving the s2k
there now that Ive gotten that out there
As a young married guy I do feel you on most of your points though.. I know Monica doesnt like having to yell over the sound of the car on the freeway as it is and she definately wont enjoy it any more when I can afford an ITB setup... She does luckly enjoy the car just as much as I do as long as we arent trying to comunicate in it, she even enjoys it to work occasionally We both totally the "S"! WE both also have a dificult time getting in and out Im fairly tall and she has hip problems.
I know if I ever had ot pick up another car for DD/etc it would be a 4WD prolly an STI of some sort. Just because it would be more practical for where I live.
Both of those sound and look like great cars though good luck!

You are correct that full power mode occurs when both e motors and the ICE are used, but the ICE is only being used as a generator and not to power the wheels. The e-motors together are rated at 408hp and 960 ftlbs peak. It's the battery that can't deliver that much power without the generator being turned on. It is without a doubt a series hybrid. If you want more information feel free to PM.
