Ya, they started out with a weak 214hp 3.5 V6 that was later renewed to make 253hp. The later engine was the same one that was in the 300M sedan when it came out.

Prowlers are realtively cheap to pick up these days. But beyond looks, they have no real street cred as they're not fast, nor are they really set up for anything other than cruising, and you can't really modify them. Like the Chevy SSR, they are for nothing but looks...though the SSR can technically tow some amount of weight, store stuff in its bed, and outgun a Prowler in power and speed.

If I'm not mistaken, they are also built off the Jeep wrangler platform, that kinda tells you the quality of the car in terms of performance. Chassis really isnt' that stiff for what the car is and could have been.

ahhhh yeah that's the one. but the one i saw this weekend i think was a prowler. it was a dark, metallic-ish orange color, with open wheels (at least looked like it).

That's a good looking car. I miss seeing it. I have no idea how it drives but since it only came in an auto, couldn't have been too much fun.

See a handful of them up here in Oakland. Damn sexy car, shame they didn't put a V8 in them though.
