Mama Mia!
Finally watched Moto GP from Catalunya tonight. WOW!!
In what other sport do the athletes compete at this level? In a word, NONE.
This race just reaffirms my belief that Moto GP is the greatest sport on earth.
The action of this race was unbelievable. The pass by Vermuhlen on Pedrosa in the turn with 6 laps left. Holy crap! These machines are traveling on two tires!!!
Team orders??!? Not in Moto GP. How about that battle Royal between team mates Rossi & Lorenzo!!? Fantastic race - fantastic finish.
I've admired the speed of the AMA Superbike class for many years. When I saw the World Superbike Championship at Brands Hatch in England, it took it up a notch. Then, having seen Moto GP live at Laguna back in 2005, you realize these GP bikes and riders are at the absolute pinnacle of motorcycle sport. Yet, in the U.S.A., NASCAR dominates. Unbelievable.
Followers and Leaders: It's funny and almost embarrassing to see all of the riders now copying Valentino's leg-out-pre-turn technique. To see all of these riders entering the turn with their legs out, one by one copying him, reminds me of my childhood when everyone copied the leader. Well, we know what is said about imitation!
Go Vale!!! GO!!!!!!!

Awesome race, I was holding my breath for the last lap. Top class passing on valentino.
Lorenzo's pretty good too, I've never seen vale being pushed like that. although he is a bit cocky in my opinion.
Reminds me of the Laguna Seca Rossi vs. Stoner

How anyone can get excited about NASCAR when you have MotoGP floors me. Plus, it's a sport the average person can experience at some level, since anyone can pick up a used GSXR600 for a few thousand and go have a great time on their local track without breaking the bank. I swear we have a bunch of out-of-shape stadium drones/simpletons in this country.

I don't see Vale as cocky at all.
Sense of humor? Yes.
Personality? Absolutely.
Confident? No doubt about it.
Entertaining? He certainly keeps my interest.
Cocky? Not in my opinion.
My one and only criticism of Ben Spies is that he lacks all of the qualities referenced above.
Spies: Skilled? Absolutely.
Quick learn? No doubt about it. As far as entertaining, personality, sense of humor and the rest - it's just not there.
That's what makes the world go round.
Pick up Rossi's book - "What if I had never tried it". It provides an excellent inside perspective to what many of us consider to be one of the finest motorcycle racers that has ever lived.
Cocky? Have you any idea of what he has accomplished? Consider yourself fortunate to be able to watch this man perform on the track - in your own lifetime.
Football players that spike the ball and do their foolish dance in the end zone after making a stupid touchdown. That's cocky.

Given a choice to have a beer with Spies or Rossi, I'd pick Spies any day, even though you can't deny Rossi's incredible skill. Spies is pretty nonchalant in interviews, but to say he has no personality based on that alone is kind of crazy. Rossi is a bit over the top sometimes. Is Rossi gay? He always has a guy hanging around.
I'd also love to see Rossi run a WSB race, and he just might do it.

Believe what you want, but after he's won a race, the interviews with Spies are about as interesting as watching paint dry. I've met & spoke with him. He's one the most boring sports personalities I've ever met. He literally makes me yawn. Outstanding rider, but just lacks personality.
For me, it rounds out the individual. Talent, personality, and imagination.
