Bimmers are only stolen by hi-jackers. I think some one just tried to vandalize your car.

The EXACT same thing happend to my friend's M3 up in Vernon, NJ a few months ago. Never heard of people pulling the lock cylinder until recently.

Is it possible for someone to duplicate the key and emulate the chip so they can come back and just drive away?

you can't "pull" the lock cylinder unless the door is open....you can jam it or try to break it, or whatever....but you can't remove it without the door being open.

i don't have lock cylinders b/c i have those hole-less keycaps.....you have to remove the cylinder(s) to put those on.

they can duplicate a key, but then the key has to be programmed to the car....by a dealer....or someone that has a dealer computer tablet.

You know I always wondered about those hole-less keycaps. How do you get in the car if the remote fails?
