The problem with the HK (other than it sounding bad) is that if you get the HK... it's more costly to go aftermarket once you realize it sucks. I'm by no means a stereo expert but this is what the local shop told me... something about the wiring for the HK. As far is sounding better than a Bose... I'm not trying to offend anyone but my 99 Eclipse GS-T had an factory Infinity system that sounded much better than my current HK or any of the BOSE systems that I've heard in Acura, Nissan or Audi. My point here is that for the kind of money you spend on a BMW... they would have been better off going with Nakimichi who makes some of their other components rather than HK who doesn't really do car audio. I'm sure it depends greatly on what type of music you listen to and what quality of sound you listen to. Pretty much everything outside of my car is higher end stuff so I'm pretty particular about sound... especially since I listen to a wide variety of music. I'm just ticked off that BMW doesn't offer something better. My parents have an M5 and it has a similarly crappy stereo system in it as well. One last thing... I know BMW has made the HK standard (at least on the 330 Ci) now which makes it easier to live with since it's no longer an 'option'.

My friend has been searching for an M3 at MSRP and can't find a dealer willing to sell.
Would you mind telling me which dealer & salesperson you are getting your M3 from?
He wants the exact setup as you except in silver!
