+1 for 03-04 m45.
Wow, this indirectly answered a question of my own. As I get older, lux cars are starting to appeal to me more and more, but being the miser that I am I don't want to spend big bucks for it. So the VIP scene sorta intrigued me, it's basically how the tuner scene is, you take a lesser, cheaper car and make it into a great car, but with tuners it's performance and with teh VIP folk it's lux.
Anyway, after reading up on the m45, seems like a real winner imo. The engine is from teh same family as the rest of the nissan V8s including the trucks, and it's shared across multiple infiniti platforms. Seems rocksolid, found no recalls, and googling common problems doesn't really bring back anyting (rarity is not an issue, try googling volvo s80 or any jag).

How about the S500?

There's a reason why that 80K car is now worth almost a quarter of its msrp now. I have yet to speak to one owner who owns that particular gen S class from the early 2000s that didn't have some ridiculous service bill to b*tch about. The BMW 7 series is a bit differnet, so far 50/50, half say it's ran great and although the service bills are expensive, it's what you would expect having a premium car and therefore reasonable.

u can goto freshalloy.com or vipstylecars.com they have a pretty active forums for M and Q.

The VK series engine in the trucks and M/Q are all pretty bullet proof. personally for myself once i'm done w/ my M45, i want to get a M35 or GS350, the V8 gas is pretty killer at 4$+ a gallon at 15mpg!

Wow! I didn't know prices for those were so low. In just a few years, they are almost 1/4 of the new prices.

Out of the list, for style alone, I'd get the 745 then the A8L. But for reliable luxury, I'd definitely get the RL - very reliable.

XKRs are good one you brought up. I bet it has a solid ride and powerful but the interior is a little bulky for my taste. I have not been in one so I cannot say. People told me to stay away from VWs. lol

I really like the Audi A8L and BMW 530s though and I know reliability is an issue for those cars. Any other reason not to get the A8L over the others, or reliability is enough as a reason?

Look at the A8, it's beautiful.

so u listen to ppl who tell u to stay away from VW's but yet u still want an audi ?

How much time/hassle/money do you want to allocate for maint. and repairs? There's a good reason why out of warranty German luxobarges are so cheap!

For an older luxury car, I'd go Japanese.

LS430 for me. Can't beat the reliability/quality for the price. Rims and slam it and your set.

I'll be in the market for a car in a year or so. I'm not sure if I want to go this route (RL), or get another S2000. I know they're completely different, but I want to consider all of my options this time. Hell, I might get a Fit or that newfangled Honda Hybrid they say is coming out.

I was going to say, isn't Audi the up-market version from VW? Like Lexus is to Toyota?
