Luxury Sedan for under $25,000
I am looking to get a used luxury sedan for under $25,000 and want to get some suggestions and help from you.
My choice in order from most wanted to least:
1) 2004 Audi A8L, Market price is around 22k - 23k, but potential problems due to 1st year of the new model D3. 2005 is the ideal choice but it is around 28k-30k.
2) 2004-2005 BMW 530i - Market price at low 20s. drove one and love the ride and styling.
3) Acura RL, forgot the year but the new one around 22k-25k.
4) 2002-2004 BMW 745i - 20k - 27k, they are cheap I heard because of gas prices.
5) Other ones I should be considering?

2 others u should be considering (both are relatively reliable)
1. Y34 infiniti M45 (03-04) - 340hp, 5 speed auto, and rare 14-20k
2. F50 infiniti Q45 (02-05) - same V8 power as the M in a bigger package. 12-25k
The other good choice that would be nice is the
01-04 Lexus GS430 - V8 power, toyota reliability
01-04 Lexus LS430 is also in your range.
All you other choices besides the RL are basically very unreliable and expensive to maintain
I picked up a M45 myself 2003, 70k miles, 14k$ it runs like a champ!

As much as I like the M45 above, I'd seriously consider an 06 M35/45 instead - the improvements Infiniti made are too great to ignore for a few grand more. Both the old and new Infinitis are nice though.

If LS430's are cheap enough, I'd get that if you want the more reliable/efficient luxury car.
On the other side, 745.
The M45 shown above is a fantastic value and more unique then the rest. Not sure on the reliability, but i bet it's as good as everything but the lexus.

for my own example i noted the spark plugs and o2 sensor were the 2 things i fixed in my car. Oil consumption is an issue w/ some 2003 and prior M45/q45 if the previous owner didn't break it in properly. Oil consumption is also an issue w/ M35 as well, if not broken in properly.
Mine runs fine tho, after i changed plugs, o2, tranny oil, diff oil, and coolant (typical stuff i change w/ higher mileage used cars).
note lexus models are timing belt driven and might need a cam belt change if over 60k miles.

Thanks for the advise. I really like the LS430 and M45 but would like to change it up a bit and go German. LS430s hold its value very well that I know. and M45s are really quick.

For your # 5:
Not commenting on opinion one way or another for these two...but they're both MAJOR steals these days.
Have you seen the price of used XKRs lately??? Definitely worth considering. At the end of the day, it's still a ~400hp luxury car for super cheap. Talk about depreciation.
Also, the other good find out there is the Phaeton.

XKRs are good one you brought up. I bet it has a solid ride and powerful but the interior is a little bulky for my taste. I have not been in one so I cannot say. People told me to stay away from VWs. lol
I really like the Audi A8L and BMW 530s though and I know reliability is an issue for those cars. Any other reason not to get the A8L over the others, or reliability is enough as a reason?
Look at the A8, it's beautiful.
