low ball offer

People posting low ball in their add might as well take Xanax if you are selling on Craigslist. Phone call offers oh geeze.
No one respects that you've paid retail for a product and want to sell it in prestine condition for 75% of it's value a month after you bought it with a receipt to prove it. It's like it's assumed that if you list on Craigslist for sale, you are desperate for money or something and you are posting a fair price so you can give it to people for 1/2 off.. .
I think I'm going to start using EBAY again for cheaply shipped items.

The best is NOT stating any lowball anything and only stating $22,XXX, price is firm. You'll get emails/calls that state "I know you stated $22,XXX in your ad but will you take $19k?"
That shit drives me nuts. Firm means firm.

I hearya. What sucks is after they test drive they go on and on about none related BS and that there are some others listed for less. Nothing you say matters to a sleezy low baller, even if your car is perfect in every way, detailed service history and so on.. . To them, it's still only worth market value as the trashed ones.. .

One guy went on and on about how I was CRAZY for thinking I could get 22k for 3 year old car that originally cost only 26k. He even went on to analyze my cost per mile. Then he GENEROUSLY offered buy the car for 18k...this is after CarMax already offered me 20k for it.
BTW I got 22k for it in the end.
This is part of the reason I haven't listed the S2000 yet, gotta be in the right mode to deal with craigslist BS.

Simply put, it doesn't hurt to ask, and sellers should stop being so damn sensitive. I get getting frustrated with people offering you a grand on a 10k car, but the nature of business is to profit from a transaction, whether buying or selling. If anything I get annoyed for the time I wasted, but selling anything you have to figure that you will need to invest time into doing it. Otherwise look up your trade in value and sell it to carmax/dealer. You want that difference? Well then you need to market your item and provide some level of service when doing so. And if you're the type of buyer who walks in and pays asking price on a used car without even trying to haggle and therefore expect the same in return when you sell, well you need to get up to speed quick.
If you don't want to haggle, simply put on your ad that amount you want, no other offers will be considered. And you will still get some emails and calls asking for less, whatever, it's just the nature of business.
