[QUOTE=esmith51,Oct 21 2009, 09:43 PM]Yes, there are a lot of cars that have come out that are a lot more refined. There is a lot more comfort and a lot more finesse with many of the new cars. The S is not the most practical, the most comfortable, the most powerful, or the fastest car of its kind. What it is however, is a nice piece of technological achievement that offers a raw, well-balanced, bare-bones, fun drive.

It is a false complaint. The S2K still stands unique at its price point for its combination of attributes.

And since when did big-lug Clarkson fit that well into a S2K. I seem to recall it was the Hampster who reviewed the S2K properly.

I think Clarkson himself is getting old, and a lot of his reviews reflect that.

This season he has praise for cars that he panned earlier, and the praise that he has for them is that they are softer, and less hard core. . .

I think a lot of the criticism of the Evora will dissolve when they affix a blower to that Camry engine....

IIRC Clarkson always picked the s2000 ad the best mid range roadster while Hammond liked the Z4 and May the boxster

clarkson is right, honda as we know didn't start padding on annoying bits to better market the car. but i bought it because of that, its just a sports car. it done right and remained that way. around here porches of all types, benzes of every type, bmws, audis, corvettes, jags and italians all day long but the handful of local Ss are the rarity you see on the road. i did see the evora in the flesh and its gorgeous. if i could i would but i'd have a hard time giving up the S.

Just another example of the fickle automotive media. Some of these guys are on par with the tech industry. Windows 7 just came out and is already obsolete. I guess the S2K faithful will have to wait for the inevitable birth of VJDM-M (thats Vintage Japanese Domestic Market Magazine to those of you not in the know) for our prescious roadster to become a classic and be reverred and coveted once again. What really pisses me off is the fact that 10 years ago this jackass was slobbering all over the car like a lovesick tweener over the Jonas Brothers. Now its yesterdays trash? At the very least give this car the respect it deserves and admit that not only is it one of the most fun cars on the road to drive, but also one huge performance bargain. This guy has no credibility as far as I'm concerned.

Clarkson is lucky along with the other members of the UK car press to have driven S2000's with the UK alignment specs and available hardtop option before the US received it. We had to "suffer" with mis-dialed S2000's, on crummy shocks and plastic rear windows.
