Thank you, Mark! For all the bitching about it being old, nobody has provided a link showing where it's previously been posted in this forum.

The lotus is probably twice the cost of a new s2k, sounds like a fair comparison
That doesn't bother me, though. I didn't buy the car just so my ego will be bruised by every bad review. I bought it because it's an enjoyable car to drive, about as raw of a sports car as you can get new these days south of $50k, and just needs to be boosted to beat not only it's competitors (i.e. 350Z/370Z, RX-8, etc.), but also keep up with cars twice its price range (i.e. 911s, Elises/Exiges, etc.)
Depends on how much boost is used, though.

No comparison. He's not saying the S2000 is now dull because he just test drove an Evora; he's saying that the S2K has been out-of-date for a long time. Honda never improved on it.

The s2000 is the only car I would have for less than $40,000 (Used market) THAT I can finance....
The 3rd gen Rx7 still has my heart, and probably forever will.

Eh, Clarkson is fickle and writes for entertainment as much as anything else. If he thinks he can make you laugh or entertain you he will bash the Evora two months from now.
On a side note, the Evora sounds like a nice car but surprised he gushed over it a little and then gave it 3 out of 5 stars.

Not to get nostalgic or anything, but I do feel kind of bad for the newer S drivers who didn't have a chance to experience the feeling of technological innovation and sophistication, attention-grabbing newness, reviews comparing the S to much more expensive cars and (more important) describing it in terms enthusiasts love, all back in 2000/2001. Not because I think anyone depends on a review or the attention of strnagers - but just because it was such a unique experience.
With Honda basically ignoring the car for the past 10 years, it's easy to forget what an amazing package it was for the money (even with the premiums!), how the lack of "amenities" was a point of pride, how people, stunned, just couldn't accept that it was a Honda, how it felt holding a corner, or how it sounded at full kick-in, or how the snick of the shift felt. It's not an amazing car relative to the "competition" today, though it's still a darn good one, but at the time there was no car to beat it for overall feel and looks and performance at anywhere near that price.
It's still that car, but the field has changed. However, at one time....

I don't know what you are all complaining about, I got stopped yesterday by a woman asking to see my car and she loved it. It is what it is, and its a great car, even if Honda did abandon it and its no longer faster than a Porsche.
