Default Loose the Dubs, get some Tweels

Michilen is making a new "tweel" that is a one piece tire-wheel combo said to out last normal tires (2-3x) and to be retreadable. Also since it wont be air filled, but rather filled with polyurethane spokes punctures will not matter.

Here is the article from the New York Times January 3, 2005.

seems like that would be pretty cool for comuter cars...and who knows given enough time and research it may become useful for high performance vehicles in the future.

I was also thinking that image is just a cross section to show the concept. I'd imagine if these went into production they'd have a full sidewall, and would look just like normal tires.

Could you imagine having to clean them without a sidewall? Ugh.
