Our Mazda ownership experience (years ago) was not a happy one.

After all these screw-ups, why would anybody buy a Mazda?

Well, Mazda's are still nice cars: Miata, RX8 (hp debacle notwithstanding), 6...

Rai, don't know about the current M3, but the previous ones, and the 3.0L's seem to underrate.

sounds like a well thought out marketing plan to me, get the car sold, then "give them free maint so they have to come back to the dealer again and again."

I think Mazda is really stepping up in accepting the responsibility.

Mazda doesn't really have a choice. I can't believe they screwed up the miata a few years back and now this. It's pathetic a company like that can't bother to dyno their engines to see what type of power they make before they start selling them. Now they're saying they only make 2 HP less than our engines yet they dyno about 20 HP less than ours do. Either they have a very inefficient drivetrain or they are making good use of their 5% rule on engine output and they're really putting out closer to 225 HP.

I mean the M3 weighs a good deal more than the C5 so you would think it would be a good deal slower.

You're right the C5 has 350hp but it has 375 TQ that's where I got confused.

So the M3 is heavier with a 17 fewer HP but more than 100 lb/ft less TQ and yet is within a few 1/10th of the C5.
