I take it you are referring to the Spyders. I have not owned one of those but can say from experience on Sw20's easy to work on is not part of the deal. Seriously cramped engine bay.
I say for $20k you might find that 2005 Lotus Elise's are starting to creep into that range. I was finding closed ebay auctions sub $25k about a year ago.
