long solo test drives
we hear of people from time to time saying that dealers just toss walk in customers keys to s2ks and they just go drive it by themselves for an hour. WTF. we're lucky to get a jaunt around the block in socal. what gives?

I dont' know man. I got a guided tour when I test drove an '04 back then and it really was a drive around the block and that was it. They held on to my registration and everything to try to make a sale... that's woodland hills honda btw

If you test drive a used car, they tend to be a lot more willing to let you go out on your own for as long as you want, new car different story, would you buy a new car with three digits on the odo?

The dealership I went to didn't even have the s2000s set up in a way where they could be test driven. But we were allowed to sit in them and start em up though. Btw this was in socal and I can agree that the dealers are probably less likely to give test drives of s2ks here.

Well I remember back in '78 or '79 I was 18 years old and a Chevy dealer let me take home a very clean '77 Camaro Z28 to "show dad." I was gone for hours.
And no, dad did not buy me the car.

Maybe the dealer is hoping the driver won't come back and they'll get full msrp from the insurance co?
